After getting home from Las Vegas, it was very nice to have a week before I had to head back to school. Jaclyn and I both worked Mon-Wed (Dec 27-Dec 30) and Jaclyn had to work New Year's Eve. After work was done, we found ourselves pretty busy. We made ourselves a list of things to do and set to it--most of the things were tasks that we hadn't had time for yet during the past two weeks, such as cleaning up, putting gifts away, doing dry cleaning etc.
We also managed to relax a bit. Since Jaclyn got the first three seasons of Gilmore Girls on DVD for Christmas, we have been enjoying sitting on the couch and watching TV. We usually watched about two a day, depending on what we were up to. We also managed to do some more shopping--I picked up a new pair of shoes and a shirt from Kohls (Thanks Sally!).
For New Year's Eve, we got pizza from Papa Murphy's and Sparkling Cider for dinner. I do have to say that the Mediterranean DeLite is one of our all-time favorite pizzas! Yum Yum :) After Austin went down, we watched more Gilmore Girls until well after midnight, but we didn't countdown or anything. Kind of anti-climatic for us.
New Year's Day, Lee and Jenny came up from Las Vegas to be with Jenny's family, so we had more family time. We went and saw Avatar while Jaclyn's Aunt Debbie generously watched Austin for the afternoon. (Avatar was pretty good, action packed, and didn't seem like a 3-hour movie. We're glad we got to see it together.) After the movie, we went over to Jaclyn's step-sister Michelle and Jared's house for dinner with Lee and Jenny, Michelle and Jared and Stella, Marcus and Jen, Alicia, and Michael and Sharlan. Austin loved seeing family again and we had a good time too.
Jan 2 we slept in a little, did more little projects, tended Jaclyn's migraine and welcomed Jeremy and Jenni Peters for a visit. They were on their way home to Tuscon and we convinced them to spend an afternoon with us. It was so good to see them again. We caught up on old times, Austin showed them Monsters vs. Aliens, we went to dinner at the Training Table and then I took Jeremy and Austin to the BYU basketball game while Jaclyn and Jenni stayed home. Afterwards we had scrumptious brownies and ice cream and sadly had to let our friends leave. We always love it when Jeremy and Jenni come over. They really are like family to us.

(These pictures show Austin's progression of enjoyment. Before the game he was fine (top left), thought it was fun. During the game he wanted to watch (top right) but he thought it was too loud and had me cover his ears and then he would press harder on my hands (bottom left). After halftime we moved to chair seats and let him play around with his man bag. Inside, he found two "fiers" (bottom right) and sunscreen that he thought was chapstick. In the end, he was dancing to the music and didn't want to leave after it was over.)
Jan 3 was Sunday and our first time back to 9:00 am church . I'm not sure how I feel about early meetings again. It means early morning meetings for me and we had to actually wake up Austin to get ready, which are not my favorites things to do, but we did have more time to take a nap after our meetings.
Anyways, we made it through Sunday and found ourselves back to work and school Monday morning. That will have to be another post.
